About Dr. Chakara
Dr. Chakara serves clients from children (aged 4 years and older) to the elderly, and he evaluates a broad range of neurocognitive conditions. He is board certified the American Board of Professional Psychology - [ABPP-CN] and he is a Fellow of the American Board of Professional Neuropsychology [FACPN]. He also belongs to the National Academy of Neuropsychology, American Psychological Association, the National Register, Pennsylvania Psychological Association, and the Lancaster Lebanon Psychological Association. He founded Providence Behavioral Health Services in 2002.
Dr. Chakara completed his graduate studies at Widener University Clinical Psychology with emphasis in two areas: Neuropsychology & School Psychology. His doctoral dissertation analyzed Social Problem Solving deficits among brain injured individuals. He completed an APA approved pre-doctoral internship through Widener University's Institute for Graduate Clinical Psychology. His focus was in pediatric and adult neuropsychological assessment, and he completed a clinical rotation at Lancaster General Hospital. He completed his post-doctoral fellowship at Hershey Medical Center where he worked with children and adolescents with a variety of neurodevelopmental disorders. In this setting, his responsibilities included neuropsychological evaluations of clients engaged in civil litigation, creating treatment plans for school interventions, and, in some cases cognitive rehabilitation services, and supervising clinical staff.
To date, Dr. Chakara has coauthored five book chapters, published from 2004 through 2012. Besides clinical work, he currently teaches graduate and undergraduate courses related to psychological assessment.
