Ready for summer? Leaving for vacation? Sad you are on your way back from vacation? Is it time to head back to school? Perhaps you have a graduation coming up, a new job, or a friend is coming in from out of town. Transitions. There are so many transitions in life. It reminds me of the expression: “The only thing constant in life is change.” As you are moving toward a transition, in the middle of a transition, or finishing up a transition, try to remember one of the keys to happiness is being present for each moment rather than just anticipating the next. There is a quote by Lao Tzu that says, “if you are depressed, you are living in the past. If you are anxious, living in the future. If you are at peace, living in the moment.” When we work for the weekend, or we ruminate on the past, we often miss out on one of the main things we do possess: the present. Life is like an hour glass, there is all the sand which has moved through, all the sand that has yet to fall, and yet our most glorious possession is the sand currently falling through that tiny little glass tube. So try to remember to live each day, each hour, and each moment. Do not give up one of your greatest possessions: the beautiful life going on right before your eyes.
